Embracing Adventure with "Dunder" ESB and "Flow" Nitro Dry Irish Stout

Hey there, fellow beer enthusiasts and adventure seekers! If there's one thing you should know about me, it's my undying love for mountain biking. It's a passion that runs deep, and it's no surprise that approximately 17 beers on the Two22 menu are named after mountain biking trails or related terms of endearment. While most folks are hitting the slopes during winter, I prefer to hit the snow with my trusty fat bike. My favorite tire set? The remarkable Flowbeist and Dunderbeist from 45NRTH.

Inspired by these incredible tires and the thrill of mountain biking, I set out to create two distinct beers that could come together in perfect harmony—a proper half-and-half. And thus, "Flow" and "Dunder" were born.

"Flow" Nitro Dry Irish Stout:

Let's start with "Flow," a dry Irish Nitro Stout that embodies smoothness and balance. This stout pours with a luscious, creamy head, thanks to the nitro infusion, and delivers a rich, roasted malt character with subtle notes of coffee and chocolate. It's the kind of beer that glides effortlessly across your palate, much like the feeling of cruising down a flowing mountain trail.

"Dunder" ESB (Extra Special Bitter):

Next up is "Dunder," an Extra Special Bitter that packs a flavorful punch. With its perfect blend of malt sweetness and hop bitterness, "Dunder" offers a delightful complexity that appeals to both seasoned beer lovers and newcomers alike. This year, "Dunder" made it to the final round of judging at the '24 Great American Beer Festival competition—a testament to its adherence to stylistic guidelines and a proud moment for me. While it didn't medal, having it recognized by the judges is a win in my book!

The Perfect Half-and-Half:

When combined, "Flow" and "Dunder" create a mesmerizing half-and-half, with "Flow" gracefully floating above "Dunder" in the pint. The result is a layered experience that marries the smoothness of the stout with the robust character of the ESB. It's a unique combination that pays homage to my love for mountain biking and the trails that inspire me.
