Unrest in the Forest - Maple Hardwood American Lager
Hey beer lovers! 🍻 Today, we're diving into the inspiration behind one of our latest brews, Unrest in the Forest.
Our talented brewer, Kjell aka Jellyman, voices his experience in the creation of this Maple Hardwood American Lager that hits all the right notes.
“Growing up, I was surrounded by the legendary sounds of the band RUSH, thanks to my older brother who was a bass-playing enthusiast. You could say I was musically "abused" as a kid, but in the best way possible! 🎸
This past spring, while brewing and jamming to RUSH as I often do, I found myself captivated by their song "The Trees." It's a tale of forest unrest between the Maples and the Oaks, with the opening line resonating deeply: "There is unrest in the forest and trouble with the trees." That morning, I played it on repeat at least a dozen times, and inspiration struck like a lightning bolt.
The idea to craft an American Lager aged on Maple Hardwood was born. A quick search led me to The Barrel Mill, a company known for coopering barrels for the wine and distillation industries. After chatting with one of their salesmen, I was introduced to their Sugar Maple spiral product. It was perfect for the vision I had in mind.
With just a few weeks of soaking, the lager absorbed a soft wood flavor and texture that was surprisingly delightful. It’s a brew that embodies the harmony and complexity of the forest, just like the melodies of RUSH.
I sincerely hope you enjoy "Unrest in the Forest" as much as I do. It's more than just a beer; it's a tribute to the music that shaped my journey and a celebration of the craft that brings us all together.
Cheers to good music and great beer!”
