Behind the Brew: Unveiling Beer Inspirations - "Cease and Descend"
Hey there, beer enthusiasts! ๐ป It's time for another dive into the creative stories behind our beloved brews from the man himself, Kjell Wygant. Today, we're uncovering the tale of "Cease and Descend," a beer with a legacy as rich as its flavor.
โThe journey of this brew began back in 2010 at Rockyard Brewery, where it was originally known as "Jelly the Elder." When I moved on to open 105West, this bold 10.5% IIPA found new life and continued to delight beer lovers across Colorado.
However, the tale took an unexpected turn when Russian River Brewing's legal team reached out with a Cease and Desist due to the name's resemblance to their "Pliny the Elder" 8% IIPA. We were asked to halt distribution and packaging under the "Jelly the Elder" name. As a gesture of goodwill, they requested a case of our Jelly in exchange for a case of their Pliny. We obliged, but alas, the favor was not returned. ๐
Fast forward to my new chapter at Two22 Brew, where the spirit of this IIPA was reborn with a new name: "Cease and Descend." Inspired by my passions for music and mountain biking, this brew carries forward its legacy with a fresh identity.
To all the followers of its journey, rejoice in its triumphant return! It's more than a beer; it's a testament to resilience and creativity in the face of challenges.โ
Cheers-
Jellyman
Cheers to the stories that make each sip memorable!
